Frequently Asked Questions

When is the right time to have day-to-day care?

The right time to begin day-to-day care depends on individual needs and circumstances, of course. It may be appropriate when your loved one is experiencing difficulty with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, or managing medications. It’s also beneficial when family members or primary caregivers are feeling overwhelmed, need respite, or when emotional or spiritual support is needed during a challenging time. Another time is if you worry you or your loved one is feeling isolated.

Is your care “death-conscious”?

Yes! Our care is death-conscious meaning that we approach the end of life with awareness, respect, and intentionality. We integrate the natural rhythms of life and death into the caregiving process, helping individuals and their families navigate the final stages of life with dignity, peace, and presence. We honor the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of the dying, offering compassionate support, mindful rituals, and a safe space for reflection, connection, and healing. This holistic approach ensures that both life and death are treated as sacred, transformative experiences.

What is bedside vigil?

Dying is an inward process while also a communal experience. Bedside vigil takes place when a person is actively dying. It is a time for devotional presence. Loved ones may build an altar, sing, pray, meditate, or share stories, and we assist in creating a safe, sacred space. This may last hours, days or more.

Why is bedside vigil care by donation?

All of our work is a devotional practice, but bedside vigil is especially a time that transcends time and space. Because of this, we do not set an hourly rate or track time. Instead, we offer our presence intuitively, responding to the needs of the individual and those around them. By making this service donation-based, we honor the sacred nature of this time and allow for flexibility in how we show up.

Can you provide care if my loved one is on Hospice?

Yes, we work alongside hospice teams to provide complementary care that focuses on comfort, dignity, and emotional support. We assist with symptom management, daily tasks, and provide companionship during the end-of-life journey.

What areas do you serve?

We primarily serve Woodstock, NY and other homes within a 10 mile radius. If over 10 miles, we will ask for an additional fee for travel. If you're unsure if we cover your location, please reach out, and we can discuss your needs.

What is the payment schedule?

We offer flexible payment schedules to best support both caregivers and families. Payments can be made weekly, bi-weekly (every two weeks), or monthly, depending on your preference and the level of care provided. Most families choose bi-weekly payments for consistency and ease of budgeting.

Invoices are sent out based on the agreed-upon schedule, and payments are due within 7 days of the invoice date. We accept bank transfers, checks, credit/debit cards, and digital payments (PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle) for convenience.

If you have any questions about billing or need to discuss a custom payment plan, please reach out—we’re happy to work with you.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes! We offer a complimentary initial consultation to discuss your needs, answer questions, and explore how we can best support you or your loved one. If a more detailed in-home assessment is needed, we’ll discuss any associated fees upfront.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans change, and we do our best to be flexible. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid fees. Cancellations made on the same day may be charged in full. For long-term care plans, we can discuss custom arrangements if needed.

Do you provide overnight care?

Currently, we provide overnight care only during bedside vigils. As our collective grows, we hope to offer it more regularly. However, if you have a one-time or occasional need, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
